What We Stand For

Four commitments, held by every chapter

Nigerian first. Everything else after.

These four commitments govern every chapter. A chapter that abandons them is no longer part of the movement.

One Nation

Every tongue, every faith, every tradition, every class. What a member believes is theirs. What we do together is ours.

Ours to Do

We begin with what we can carry ourselves. Waiting has been tried for a long time and has not served us well.

Where We Live

The ward comes first. A country is repaired the way it is inhabited: one street, one school, one neighbour at a time.

Beyond Any Season

We are not built around one election or one government. We intend to still be here long after both have changed.

One nation, in practice

Members hold every conviction this country holds. They worship in different buildings, think in different languages, and disagree firmly about how Nigeria should be run. Nothing is checked at the door. Nothing is asked either.

Inside the work of a chapter a member is a Nigerian and a neighbour, and the rest is nobody's business. When nobody raises those questions, most people turn out to be relieved to leave them alone.

Ours to do, in practice

A chapter begins with what it can lift, not with what it is owed. A great deal is owed. This is simply a decision about where to put our own hands while that gets settled elsewhere.

Where we live, in practice

We start at the ward because a ward is small enough to be finished. A completed thing you can stand next to changes what a community believes about itself. National arguments have never managed that.

Beyond any season, in practice

Chapters keep meeting in the years when nothing is being contested and nobody is watching. That is the hard part, and it is what separates a movement from a moment. Anything that only appears when something is at stake gets treated like everything else that does.

If these are your commitments too.
